Professor Schilders is an internationally recognised authority in minimally invasive hip, groin and hamstring surgery and sports medicine. With a distinguished career, he specialises in addressing complex conditions in hamstring injuries, groin pain, and hip issues through advanced arthroscopic techniques.

Professor Schilders has worked with elite footballers from every Premier League and Championship club, as well as top teams across all major European leagues. His expertise extends to Olympians and Athletes in Cricket, Tennis and Rugby, offering tailored care to meet the demands of high-performance sports.

Pioneering Expertise in Sports Medicine and Athlete Recovery

As a founding member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine, Professor Schilders combines unparalleled clinical skill with a deep commitment to advancing sports medicine, ensuring athletes achieve optimal recovery and performance.

Since 2015, Professor Schilders has served as a Professor of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Carnegie School of Sport, Leeds Beckett University. A leading expert in groin anatomy, one of his key contributions to the field is the discovery of the pyramidalis-anterior pubic ligament-adductor longus complex (PLAC), a groundbreaking concept that has transformed the understanding of groin pain in athletes.

Innovative Research and Breakthrough Techniques in Sports Medicine

In addition to his clinical expertise, Professor Schilders has conducted extensive research on adductor injuries, developing an advanced MRI protocol for diagnosis, as well as methods for conservative treatment and minimally invasive surgery. He has pioneered innovative surgical techniques for treating adductor and hamstring tears, PLAC injuries, and sports hernias, all aimed at promoting quicker recovery and preventing re-injury.
